MIMAROPA,
top 5 Rice Producing region |
Region 4-B (MIMAROPA) is awarded as one of the top 5 rice
producing regions in the country for 2012. The award was given
by the Department of Agriculture in recognition to the region's
outstanding performance in line with the rice production that
contributes to the attainment of food sufficiency program of
the Aquino government. The trophy was handed over by DA Secretary
Proceso J. Alcala assisted by Asst. Secretary Dante S. Delima
during the 2012 Rice Achievers' award ceremonies held at the
Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on March
15, 2013.
Ms. Tess Aguilar, RFU 4-B rice coordinator represented Director
Cipriano G. Santiago received the award. With her are Ms. Clariza
San Felipe, OIC Chief-RAFID, Mr. Ronald Degala, Rice Program
Technical Staff, and Mr. Elmo Morillo, RAFID Staff. Other top
rice producing regions are Region 7 (Central Visayas), Region
2 (Cagayan Valley), Region 3 (Central Luzon), and Region 6 (Eastern
Visayas). |

each with 500,000 worth of agricultural project grants by the

based on its geographical location to facilitate monitoring system.
Two Mindoro provinces belong to cluster 1, while cluster 3 comprises

4-B Research Division in collaboration with the Romblon State
University (RSU) has propagated about forty (40) varieties of
cassava obtained from the Philippine Root Crop Research and Training
Center (PhilRootcrops) based in Leyte State University in Baybay,
Leyte. It was planted in a hectare research station of RSU in
Brgy. Agpudlus, San Andres, Romblon to determine the variety
suited in the province current soil and climatic condition. Its
main objective is to determine the possible highest yielding
variety of cassava that suited the needs of the region either
for human consumption and industrial purposes. |

fisherman's produce. This will cater not only the agriculture
products of farmers and fisher folk of the municipality of Puerto
Galera but also those surplus goods coming from the other municipalities
of northern Oriental Mindoro. |

and traders attended the 8th National Vegetable Congress which
was held in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on February 23-25,
2010 with the theme "Refocusing the Philippines Vegetable
Industry Amidst the Challenges of Climate Change". It

of farmers despite the effect of climate change and to serve

Barangay Lipa, Sta. Cruz, Marinduque. Rejano's Bakery was established
by her parents in 1946. Ka Mita, as everybody calls her, was
among the siblings who succeeded the business. |

half of his life is devoted to farming but only last year that
Ernesto Pablo, Sr. started reaping the fruits of his labor.
In 2003, the DA technicians in Rizal, Occidental Mindoro were
promoting the hybrid rice program to the farmers. Being certified
rice farmers for so long, all the farmers in the barangay turned
them down except one. |
